The Drag and Carry

Okay, it’s pretty much what it sounds like. You drag a sled, you carry something or some combination of the two. My two favorite versions are the 40 yard dash and the death march.

The 40 yard dash involves sprinting with an 85 pound sled for 40 yards, then picking up the 60 pound sand bag used for most of the weight on the sled, carrying it like a sleeping baby and sprinting back. Rest and repeat four times. This is the one workout that really makes me feel like I’m going to hurl.

Death march style is more of an endurance test. It’s done at a fast walk. Carry the sand bag in the front carry position while dragging the sled for as long as you can. When your biceps start screaming, throw it over your shoulders for about a minute. Alternate back and forth for the remainder of a half mile. Never stop or put the bag down.

Both of these make jogging seem about as difficult as taking a nap.
